Cultural Significance

Hanuman Jayanti celebrates the divine appearance of Lord Hanuman, the immortal Chiranjeevi born to Anjana Devi and Kesari with the divine blessing of Vayu Deva. Revered as the epitome of Nishkama Bhakti (selfless devotion), humility, and boundless strength, Lord Hanuman serves as an eternal source of inner courage, protection from fear, and mental fortitude.

How It Is Celebrated

Devotees gather at temples for Tailabhishekam (sesame oil abhishekam), applying sacred Sindhooram to the deity. Offerings of garlands made of 108 betel leaves (Tamalapaaku Mala) or fried vadapappu / medu vadas (Vadamala) are made. Recitations of the sacred Hanuman Chalisa, Sundarakanda, and Hanuman Vadavanala Stotram resonate throughout the day.

Celebrated on Chaitra Pournami as well as on Vaishakha Bahula Dashami in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana following 41 days of Hanuman Deeksha.
